SCA madness

Soon there is to be a change in the management of the local SCA group as the Baron and Baroness of Ynys Fawr (Tasmania) are stepping down and a new Baron and Baroness are taking over all the ceremonial duties associated with running a barony along with encouraging participation and representing the King and Queen of Lochac.

The incoming Baron is interested in expanding the range of combat arts practised in the barony. At the moment there is a strong emphasis on the heavy fighting which involves using rattan sticks covered in tape and other bits to replicate meelee combat in tournaments and open combat situations. There is also some archery including combat archery involving arrows with a big blob of rubber on the business end of the arrow so they can be shot at people.
The new Baron wants to encourage more people to do these activities especially target archery as anyone from 6 years old upwards can do it.
The other combat arts that the Baron is encouraging are rapier conducted under the auspices of the Lochac guild of defence and the use of siege engines in war scenarios such as catapults and uniquely to Lochac air powered cannons.

Currently I am authorised to run a target archery event and participate in wars as an archer. I am also working toward getting authorised as a rapier fighter and very slowly making a cannon so I can get my siege authorisation.
